UPDATE April 23, 3pm:
The Municipal District of Bonnyville has downgraded a localized evacuation order to an evacuation alert. The State of Local Emergency remains in effect.
This comes after careful consideration of the fire and current fire conditions. The fire (LIR001), currently located near Range Road 432, south of Highway 28. It has not yet crossed into the M.D. Officials will continue to monitor the fire and weather conditions.
Residents in the area are asked to be vigilant and be on standby for possible evacuation.

The Municipal District of Bonnyville has declared a State of Local Emergency as of 12:52 p.m. due to wildfire. A localized evacuation order has also been issued. Residents who need to be evacuated have been notified.
The fire that began on Cold Lake First Nations yesterday (April 22, 2024) afternoon, is now moving west into the M.D. of Bonnyville.
The fire (LIR001) is currently located between Range Roads 432 and 433, south of Highway 28.
